ACV Pelican

Pelican is part of a larger redevelopment between De Keyserlei, Pelikaanstraat and Vestingstraat, revitalizing Antwerp’s vibrant station district. Originally built in the 1930s, Pelican has been completely rebuilt from an old anonymous block into a modern and expressive office and retail building. It is future-proof, adaptable and fully connected to the city and urban life. Its pure yet expressive façade creates an iconic landmark in the district, while subtlyreflecting the monumental Antwerp station.

ACV Antwerp’s headquarters and Albert Heijn at street level bring daily activity, while patios and rooftop gardens introduce daylight and greenery deep into the structure.

Pelican brings new energy to Antwerp Central Station district, directly facing one of Europe’s most beautiful railway stations. What was once a fragmented, inward-looking block is now a building that opens fully to the street, strengthening connections between the station, retail and the surrounding streets.

With its pure yet expressive façade that reflects the monumental station, it opens a dialogue between historic and contemporary architecture. The building is designed to accommodate multiple tenants, with flexible units that can be divided and accessed independently.

All workspaces are adaptable and serviced, meeting today’s office expectations. Patios and rooftop terraces bring daylight deep into the structure, while outdoor terraces offer green walking routes and spaces to relax, walk or gather, including an outdoor event space.

ACV customized the completed building to house its new offices, reinforcing its commitment to centralizing its organizational family. Albert Heijn occupies the street- and lower-level, adding convenience and daily activity. Additional facilities include ACV customer service, auditorium spaces andcatering operated by a social enterprise.

Sustainability is central: Pelican is fossil-free and equipped with LED lighting with absence detection. It meets BREEAM Excellent standards for energy efficiency and low operational costs. Pelican is designed for tomorrow’s mobility; EVcharging, ample bike parking and immediate access to public transport and shared mobility options. This way we reduce the need for parking, and make sustainable travel the natural choice. Pelican demonstrates how redevelopment can elevate an urban environment, combining architectural value, future-proof functionality and a more welcoming experience for all.
